Job Summary

  • As a Business Development Associate, you are responsible for driving revenue growth for MPG Global Pairing Platform business across diverse segments in Lagos Nigeria by developing new business opportunities in the Oil & Gas sectors(Upstream - Midstream - Downstream)

Job Description

  • This role can be Contract, Contract-to-Hire, or Permanent Hire
  • The Business Development Associates is responsible for creating a pipeline of new business opportunities in the Oil & Gas sectors. This includes opening new client opportunities for MPG.
  • You should have a proven track record of building business in the area of professional services centered on Manufacturing, Suppliers, Distributor’s, Services Providers Human Resources and Training, Project Funding, Oil and Gas Operations, Sub-Contractors, Local Content, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Buyers, Logistics, Request for Quote, Proposals, Bids, Inventory Management, Equipment, Products, Services, Engineers, and Project Managers digital transformation in Oil & Gas sector.
  • Your experience should include identification of at least five to ten prospective clients and their decision-makers and building relationships with them, development of tailored marketing/sales strategy, creating proposals with the support of a cross-functional team, engaging with MPG personnel to present these proposals and win new business.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and initiate new client relationships
  • Develop and nurture deep and strong relationships with client organizations, addressing their needs, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Produce accurate sales forecasting and keep an up-to-date pipeline, contacts and meeting notes in MPG Portal CRM system
  • Stay current on competitor offerings to identify the strengths and vulnerabilities of MPG offerings in comparison
  • Contribute to the business strategy through a deep understanding of industry requirements, market trends and client requirements
  • Work with Supply Chain departments, other functions and channel partners where required to proactively address customer requirements
  • Develop and maintain territory and account plans which outline how sales targets will be met on an ongoing basis

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) qualification.
  • Relevant Supply Chain sales experience.
  • Strong communication, organization, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong personal integrity and a confident, positive manner.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; demonstrates drive, initiative, energy and sense of urgency.
  • Work effectively in a team-based environment as well as independently.
  • Desire and flexibility to learn and grow in an ever-changing environment.
  • A proven and successful new business development record.
  • Motivated by growing business beyond where people think it can go.
  • Some travel may be required

Experience Guidelines:

  • Successful track record (10+ years) of building business within a professional services/ consulting/ technology services environment.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications and contact management software.
  • Strong familiarity with the Oil & Gas business landscape, networking organizations and business community.
  • Strong existing network of senior business relationships that can be leveraged for business development.
  • An understanding of the Oil & Gas emerging digital trends, challenges, opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, be self-driven and drive business opportunities towards an outcome.
  • Good writing and presentation skills including extensive experience in creating pitch books, responses to RFIs and RFPs.
  • Must be able to navigate a large organization and have the power of persuasion through content and confidence
  • Demonstrated ability to work across internal organizational functions to cast, pitch and sell deals with relevant subject matter expertise and practice leads.
  • Minimum of 4 years of oil and gas industry and software sales experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills in customer service, closing, territory management, prospecting, negotiation, and product knowledge.
  • Experience meeting sales goals.
  • Must display self-confidence and a motivation for sales.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Ability to determine solutions for customers (Procurement sales approach).
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills especially presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing client relationships.
  • Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications and contact management software.

Your Skills:

  • You have exceptional communication skills and are able to articulate ideas and complex information in a clear and structured manner.
  • You have in-depth knowledge of the commodities market industry and well-aware of what’s happening.
  • You have strong personal integrity and work well in a team selling environment. Additionally, you are very good negotiator have a sound understanding of the sales cycle. If you’re right for this role, you are someone with a proven track record in business development sales with success in closing new business.

Compensation / Benefits Information

  • MPG base salary range for this position is $400 - $600. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for a sales commission plan.
  • This role is eligible to receive additional MPG benefits.
