Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Nigeria

Roles and Responsibilities

Oversee ongoing financial operations, such as payroll, billing, cash flow, etc.
Prepare annual statutory accounts and managing annual audits and reconcile financial discrepancies
Manage month-end processes, prepare and present monthly management accounts, including bank reconciliation process
Provide support to Financial Controller by maintaining accounting controls, designing and implementing policies and procedures
Prepare budgets and monitor expenditures
Ensure adequate and timely deduction and remittance of taxes (VAT, WHT, etc.)
Maintain and update fixed asset records
Manage cash flow and bank balances, monthly budgets and produce accurate and timely retirement report thereon
Oversee employees within the Accounts department
Liaise with external auditors to ensure statutory audits are undertaken efficiently
Develop external relationships with appropriate contacts, e.g., auditors, solicitors, bankers and statutory organizations such as the Inland Revenue
Provide insightful information (e.g., tax planning advise) to Financial Controller to aid long-term and short-term decision- making
Keep upto date with technological advances and accounting software

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
Must possess a recognized accounting qualification (ICAN preferably or ACCA)
Must be highly analytical with a high mathematical aptitude
Must demonstrate high financial reporting and analysis skills, and expert knowledge of IFRS
Must possess strong IT skills
Advanced communication [and reporting] and leadership skills
Minimum of 5 years in accounting role, plus minimum of5 years in senior audit role.
