The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (formerly Anambra State University) was established in 2000 by the Anambra State Law, No 13, 2000 which was amended as Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Law. 2014. It inherited the assets and liabilities of the defunct Anambra State Polytechnic, Uli and the Anambra State College of Agriculture, lgbariam.
The University strives for excellence and is fast becoming one of the best Universities in Nigeria and is committed to the production of high level manpower and involved in cutting edge research and community service to achieve national development goals with global relevance. Currently, the University has three Campuses in Uli, lgbariam and Awka, with thirteen (13) Faculties and a Teaching Hospital.
