Yola Renewal Foundation (YRF) is a youth-led organization located in Yola the Northeast region of Nigeria; it was founded during the Tearfund movement-building work in the Northeast in March, 2017 and has grown rapidly in the last two years into a registered non-governmental organization with Corporate Affairs Commission. It is active in raising awareness, advocacy, and piloting recycling initiatives to tackle Yola’s waste crisis.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Product Research, Branding and Marketing Officer (NORAD Project)

Location: Yola, Adamawa
Employment Type: Full-time

Main Purpose of the Job

• Responsible for product research, branding and marketing strategies and activities within the social enterprise, oversees the marketing and provides direction and feedback on the projects, makes key decisions regarding product distribution, budgeting, branding, and sales and works with other officers to set the overall direction and objectives for products.

Line Management / Position in the Organization

• Employed by Yola Renewal Foundation
• Responsible to YRF NORAD Project officer
• Liaises with Tearfund seconded Project Manager and YRF-NORAD Project Officer
• Work closely with Production manager and departments across the enterprise
• Liaise with and provide support for other YRF staff.

Organizational Requirements

• The post holder will, at all times, carry out his/her responsibilities with the utmost respect for the protection of children in accordance with YRF Child and Vulnerable person/persons Safeguarding Policy.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Organize in conjunction with the Project Manager and Project Officer, productresearch/ feasibility study to be done of profitably collecting and recycling plastic waste into different products (such as plastic pellets, paving tiles, furniture) in Yola, Nigeria
• Organize in conjunction with the Project Manager and Project Officer for a Market assessment to be done to identify suitable product, business markets, and establish additional extrusion and molding machinery required. (Establish a business plan with financial estimates of planned sales by month for the first year and for year 2 and 3, and also ongoing operating costs.
• Establish sales channels and negotiate sales
• Assess the value chain for baled and shredded plastic in relation to sales opportunities
• Monitor the sales and costs of running the social enterprise against the financial estimates in the business plan (on a monthly basis, at least initially). This will include analysis of the sustainability of each of the three product lines.
• Branding, marketing and packaging of products
• This role will have some element of logistics.

Qualification

• Degree in Marketing, Business Management or related field.

Experience:

• 5 years experience in developing marketing campaigns
• Experience with and an understanding of market research
• Extensive marketing experience
• Understanding of Business practices.
