Value Bridge Consulting - Our client is a duly registered staff cooperative society (COOP) based in Abuja. Established in 1982, the cooperative society provides thrift, loan, and other value-adding services to its over 9000 members all over Nigeria. Its members are employees of a notable organisation with branches in all the 36 states of the Federation including Abuja.

Job Title: Head, Finance and Administration
Job Ref: 002 Location: Abuja
Oversee the financial administration, people management, and administrative support of the COOP and ensure all the statutory accounting and reporting functions are fulfilled.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the COOP’s financial reporting and interfacing with auditors to provide audited financial reports within agreed timelines.
Implement and operate financial controls as necessary and appropriate
Working with budget holders, prepare the annual budget for approval by the DGM and Management Committee.
Monitor all payments and ensure that all relevant regulations are being complied with.
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial legislation, regulations and guidelines
Liaise with the COOP’s investment fund managers regarding the investment of funds and reporting of financial performance for internal and statutory purposes.
Monitor and manage cash flows to maximise interest receivable and other returns, and to minimize waste.
Maintain strong working relationships with bankers, auditors and investment managers.
Manage staff in the Finance & Administration Department, monitoring their work, setting targets and carrying out regular appraisals.
Liaise with staff from other departments as necessary, providing proactive support and advice on financial issues as needed.
Perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above.
Qualifications and Skills
Degree in Finance or Accounting. A post-graduate degree will be added advantage.
Relevant professional qualification/membership in Finance or Accounting (e.g. lCAN, CFA, ACCA, ANAN)
Minimum of 6 years’ post-graduate experience with at least two at leadership/supervisory level
Experience in a multi-purpose cooperative society will be added advantage
In-depth knowledge of generally accepted finance and accounting principles and standards (IFRS, SAS, IAS, etc.)
Advanced knowledge and understanding of financial management; especially in investment and treasury management
Hands-on practical experience and use of accounting packages.
Strong skills in communication, negotiation, analysis, problem-solving, office productivity tools as well as other relevant technology.
